Finding your way around

The top bar

  • House switcher. One button per house. A dot shows whether that house is connected; tap a house to switch to it.
  • Connection line. Under the PorchIQ name: “Main house · live · 40 ms” when all is well, or “Reconnecting…” and “offline” when it isn't.
  • Search (magnifying glass), to find any device by name.
  • Theme (moon), to switch between light, dark and the other themes your admin has set up.
  • Account (your initial), for your account page, Face ID lock and sign-out.

On a computer, every page is listed in the sidebar on the left. On a phone, the bar along the bottom holds Dashboard, Rooms, Lights and Cameras; tap More for everything else, including Settings if you're an admin. Each integration you switch on gets its own page in the menu, right after Irrigation. You only see the pages your account includes.

Device cards

Every device appears as a tile. Tap a tile to do the obvious thing (turn a light on or off, run a scene). Tap ⋯ or press and hold to open the device card, which has everything else:

  • On and off, brightness and warm-to-cool color for lights, and speed for fans.
  • Temperature up and down, the current reading and humidity, and the mode (heat, cool, auto, off) for thermostats.
  • Open, stop and close for blinds, garage doors and gates; lock and unlock for locks; arm and disarm for alarms.
  • Play, pause, skip, mute and volume for speakers and TVs.
  • ☆ Add to favorites, which pins the device to the Overview page.
  • Hide from dashboard (admins), which removes a device you never use. Undo it in Settings → Dashboard.

The card also shows which room and house the device is in, and how long it has been in its current state.

Show offline

Devices that aren't answering are hidden by default. Tick Show offline at the top of a page to see them.

The assistant Changing soon

When the optional assistant is connected, a chat bubble appears on every page. Ask it about the house you're looking at (“Is anything unlocked?”, “Why is the guest room warm?”) or ask it to do things (“Turn off everything downstairs”). The same rules apply as in the app: locks, gates, garage doors and alarms ask first. Camera narration and the camera Find tab also use the assistant.
