Matter and the Matter server

There are two ways to use Matter devices.

Setting it up Admin

• Switch on PorchIQ Matter server in Settings → Integrations, then open its page and press Install.
• Open its Settings and enter your Wi-Fi name and password (for Wi-Fi devices) and your Thread dataset (for Thread devices). PorchIQ never saves or shows the Wi-Fi password.
• Press Commission a device and choose how it's set up now: a new Wi-Fi device, a new Thread device, or an existing device already in Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant or its maker's app.

For an existing device, open its Matter settings in the other app, choose to share or pair with another app, and enter the pairing code in PorchIQ. It stays working in the other app too.

Using it

• Devices: each one opens a panel with its details, rename, Interview (re-read what it can do), Check for update, and Share, which gives a pairing code to add it to another app.
• Network map: Wi-Fi access points and Thread border routers with the devices on them, colored by signal strength.
• Unlocking, locking and removing a device always ask first.
